What You Bring Forth From Within You Will Save You
The Human Need To Categorise:
It is within our human nature to want to categorise everything. When an ideal doesn’t fit so neatly into our self imposed category system, we become lost and defensive. We seem to cling to the ideals that others have instilled in us and anything that challenges that ingrained thinking takes us out of our comfort zone and gives us a sense of uneasiness. Most of us then feel the need to defend our thinking, even if our arguments are weak or nonsensical.
This seems especially true when it comes to our individual spiritual beliefs. Many a human life has been lost because of such arguments about the nature of God, God’s laws or who really are God’s chosen representatives etc.
I can’t be the only one to realise that religious laws that make us hate and kill one another are not ordained by God but by Man. I can’t be the only one to notice, that God is all things to all people, at all times and has no limitations. I can’t be the only one to see, that our so called differences are a creation of the Ego. They are man-made fabrications and bear no resemblance to reality. And, I can’t be the only one to realise that, guessing at the nature of God is an insurmountable task and will probably drive you crazy, it is much better to ‘Know Thy Self’ first.
As to the question of God’s chosen..well if you don’t know the answer to that one I suggest you meditate on it..
My Spiritual Journey:
As a human with a Spiritual nature, I have given my life over to finding my God (of course this is not for everyone, I’m just working with the gifts I’ve been given). I have become a seeker of Divine knowledge so that I may, in some small way, become Holy (literally meaning WHOLE. Similar to Enlightened). I seek God’s wisdom wherever I am led and in the people that I meet, and sometimes on my quest for this wisdom my journey takes me far out of my comfort zone. But, the uneasiness that I may feel sometimes, when I’m out of this spiritual comfort zone, subsides when the knowledge I gain enlightens my heart and soul to such a point that; it is as if God were teaching me personally.
As I have progressed along on my spiritual journey, I have come to consider all teachings that speak of love, compassion, mercy, and justice for all, as being inspired by God through human wisdom. I feel it would be an injustice in the development of my own soul to ignore such teachings and wisdom just because they fall outside my rather limited system of beliefs or spiritual assumptions.
I have also come to realise that; my spirituality is unique to me and compliments my nature, my God is unique to me and compliments my soul, and the way I express that relationship is also unique to me and compliments my capacity to love.

I agree with everything that you express about individual spirituality, I see it as objective subjectiveness even though that is a contradiction in terms.

It does take a lot of conscious thinking to see beyond the ego. We have been conditioned to be self-centred by social influences and traditions, and all other ways of thinking are alien to us.
The problem as I see it is this; to lead an egoless life takes a lot of personal effort, change and self examination, and most are unwilling to do make such sacfrices for one reason or another.
People fear change, especially if it challenges their perceptions of this world. Most don’t want to see the real world, they are quite happy living their lives in ignorance.
